The Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) is giving independent agencies a concentrated AI crash course. Its Indie Council, under the AAAI Academia initiative, will run a two-day AI Bootcamp for advertising professionals on November 20 and 21, 2026, at the AAAI office in Mumbai.

The curriculum is built for independent and smaller advertising agencies, though the organisers note it is also relevant for client-side teams. Rather than a survey of AI hype, the sessions are hands-on and cover how AI can be applied across strategy, creative ideation, copywriting, media planning, production, client pitches and agency workflows.

A small, deliberately practical cohort

Only 30 seats are available and registrations are strictly first-come, first-served. Each session follows a dual-faculty model: an advertising practitioner and an AI expert lead together. Participants who complete the two days receive a certificate from AAAI Academia.

AAAI President Dr. Sandeep Goyal was blunt about the stakes: “AI is not the future of advertising – it is the present. If independent agencies do not adopt AI today, they will be left behind tomorrow.” He added that the format is intentionally small and practical so that “participants go back and can use AI immediately.”

Why indie agencies should pay attention

Independent agencies typically do not have the same training budgets, tool demos or specialist teams as large network agencies. A compact, applied programme can narrow that gap if it is tied to live client work rather than theory.

  • Coverage: seven core agency functions, from creative and media to pitches.
  • Format: two faculty per session, combining industry context with AI depth.
  • Access: 30 seats, first-come first-served, with an AAAI Academia certificate.

Tanya Goyal, Chairperson of the AAAI Indie Council, framed the intent as an equaliser: “We want indie agencies to see AI not as a threat, but as their biggest leveller.”

What to do about it

If you lead an independent agency, treat the bootcamp as a working session, not a passive seminar. Because the curriculum spans the full delivery chain, sending a small cross-functional group can help you standardise AI use once the team returns. With only 30 places, the practical move is to register immediately.

The obvious objection is whether two days can build durable AI capability. AAAI’s answer is in the design: a small cohort, pair-led sessions and a stated commitment to make AI learning “a continuous priority” beyond the bootcamp. For junior marketers, the wider signal is that AI fluency is becoming a baseline expectation in Indian advertising, and industry bodies are beginning to formalise it.
