Kenstar has gone the Bollywood route for its newest category push, launching a video campaign with actor Soha Ali Khan to support what it calls India’s widest air fryer range. The campaign runs on the proposition “Kuch Mat Banaana” and aims to position the appliance less as a fryer and more as an everyday cooking companion.
The distinctive line literally tells home cooks to stop making things — a playful tension the rest of the campaign resolves by showing the air fryer handling a variety of dishes with less oil and less effort.
More portfolio than product
Instead of leading with one hero model, Kenstar is pushing a 45+ SKU portfolio that spans compact units, dual-basket designs, all-glass models and high-capacity air fryer ovens. The named series include Star Chef Air Fryer cum Oven, Duo Feast Double Basket, Pure View All Glass, Daily Cook and Celebration Gifting Series.
Select models carry DuoCore Intelli Heating Technology and Turbo Air Technology for even heating and crisp finishes, with modes such as reheat, grill, toast, crispy fry, tandoor, dehydrate and bake. The range is manufactured at Kenstar’s Aurangabad facility, comes with a two-year warranty, and is RoHS, ISI and ISO certified.
Why the strategy matters
For marketers, this is a range-led differentiation play in a crowded small appliance market. Rather than competing on a single specification, Kenstar is claiming category leadership through breadth — mapping capacity, format and feature to family size, kitchen space and occasion. The Soha Ali Khan association provides reach, while the SKU count and named series give the “widest” superlative some proof.
The tagline adds a reusable creative device: a negative imperative that names the chore, then lets the product resolve the contradiction. It works like a memory hook precisely because it first sounds counterintuitive.
What to watch
- Whether a “widest range” claim converts better than a single hero-product pitch
- How far the everyday-cooking framing expands the air fryer buyer pool
- If celebrity-led recall translates into search and store-level demand
“The way Indians cook and experience food is evolving, and consumers are increasingly looking for appliances that offer convenience without compromising on the food they love,” said Sunil Jain, CEO, Kenstar.
Kenstar is also using the launch to strengthen its broader Small Home Appliances portfolio of more than 100 SKUs, which includes mixer grinders, cooktops and irons.
