Doraemon is going wide in India ahead of the October 2, 2026 release of Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil. The film’s marketing programme is built as a 360° push across out-of-home, digital, radio, experiential activations, school outreach and retail, not a trailer-only theatrical campaign.

The campaign

TV Asahi is presenting the film in India, with PVR INOX Pictures handling the theatrical release. The India marketing and licensing programme is led by Black White Orange (BWO), with strategic consulting from Happening 365 Synergies.

High-visibility formats are carrying the film into everyday family spaces. Branded buses and auto-rickshaws are running in key markets, a dedicated school contact programme is reaching children and families, and a KidZania edutainment experience has been built around Doraemon.

The partner map is broad:

  • Black White Orange (BWO), Fanthology and Econama across licensing and marketing
  • KidZania for edutainment
  • RED FM for radio
  • ANA India, Nitori Japan and Yakult Danone India across consumer products and outreach

The Mumbai premiere on September 26 gave the campaign an owned event moment, bringing together producers, influencers, media personalities, children and families ahead of the national release.

What the film says and how

The film’s message leans on wonder rather than plot mechanics. Director Tetsuo Yajima frames the story around the deepest point in the ocean ever reached by humankind, 10,928 metres, and notes that fewer people have been there than have travelled to space. That positions the movie as a trip into an unknown deep-sea world, not simply another sequel.

The format supports that idea. Select 4DX theatres will add motion and environmental effects to the underwater adventure, and the film is being released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu to reach a wider family audience.

The response so far

The source does not report advance booking or box-office figures. The early observable signal is experiential: the Mumbai premiere drew producers, influencers, media personalities, children and families, while the campaign itself is structured to encourage fan sharing before the release.

The category context

This is the 45th theatrical feature in the Doraemon franchise, so awareness is already settled. The job is to convert a familiar character into a family outing at a specific date. The school outreach, radio, retail and KidZania activations show a consumer-brand approach for a children’s title, with the partner list spanning licensing, edutainment, consumer products and media.

The release split across Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, plus select 4DX shows, reflects how animation is being treated as a wide, experience-led theatrical category in India rather than a niche import.

What to watch next

The proof arrives on October 2. Track whether the school and edutainment activations create demand beyond metro multiplexes, and whether 4DX occupancy justifies the immersive format investment. If the film connects, the next signal could be further licensing or consumer-product extensions after the theatrical window.
