Legal-tech platform Lawyered has rolled out a new brand campaign for ChallanPay, its traffic challan discovery and payment product, featuring actor Pratik Gandhi. Titled ‘ChallanPay – Aaram Se’, the campaign was unveiled at Ideabaaz Startup Fest 2026 in Mumbai.
The creative idea is straightforward and useful: ignored challans don’t vanish, so the smarter move is to check, pay and resolve them — calmly. The brand film, created by Thinkstr, casts Gandhi as a composed, persistent nudge who keeps reminding the protagonist about a pending challan, with humour drawn from everyday urban driving situations.
From performance marketing to category building
The more interesting marketing story here is the shift in posture. Lawyered says the campaign is a deliberate move beyond performance-led communication towards awareness, recall and trust. That’s a familiar inflection point for Indian digital-first brands: acquisition costs plateau, the funnel gets crowded, and the only way to keep unit economics sane is to make people know and believe in the category before they search for it.
Challan resolution is a textbook low-trust, high-confusion category. Consumers aren’t sure whether an online challan portal is legitimate, whether payment actually clears the record, or what happens when a challan escalates to court. A familiar face plus a low-anxiety tone (“aaram se”) is a rational answer to that specific barrier.
The numbers behind the association
Gandhi’s association with the brand began in August 2025, and Lawyered has shared growth figures for the period since:
- Vehicle coverage up from 6 lakh to more than 50 lakh vehicles
- Challan discovery on the platform up from ₹4 crore to over ₹2,000 crore
- Challans and incidents processed up from 30,000 to 3.35 lakh
- A network of over 80,000 lawyers, with support across 18,000 courts and 700-plus RTOs
Those are company-stated figures, and celebrity association is rarely the only driver of such jumps. But the direction of travel explains why Lawyered is now willing to spend on a full brand film rather than another round of conversion ads.
What the talent and the founder said
Pratik Gandhi framed the message around civic behaviour, saying road safety and responsible driving “affect all of us in our everyday lives”, and that resolving a challan properly is part of that responsibility.
Himanshu Gupta, Founder & CEO, Lawyered, said the intent was a campaign that “goes beyond awareness” and connects with real experiences on Indian roads, using humour to show how ChallanPay simplifies discovery, payment and resolution — including complex court challans.
The campaign sits under Lawyered’s broader ‘Be Road Smart’ narrative, pairing entertainment with a practical everyday problem.
Why it matters for marketers
Utility categories — insurance renewals, KYC, compliance, fines — are usually marketed with fear or urgency. Lawyered has picked the opposite lever: reassurance. That’s a useful reference point if you’re building a brand where the customer’s dominant emotion is dread or procrastination.
Three takeaways worth borrowing:
- Match tone to the emotional barrier. If anxiety is the blocker, calm sells better than alarm.
- Use talent for credibility, not just reach. In legal and financial categories, a trusted face does regulatory-adjacent heavy lifting that copy alone can’t.
- Tie the brand film to a proof platform. ‘Be Road Smart’ gives the campaign somewhere to live beyond one film, which is how recall compounds.
For a category most people only think about when a text message arrives, building unprompted awareness is the real long game. Whether humour is enough to make challan resolution a considered brand choice — rather than a Google search — is the test the next few quarters will settle.
