dentsu is changing leadership in one of its most strategically important Asia-Pacific markets. Prakash Kamdar will leave the network after 15 years, and Prerna Mehrotra will become CEO, Singapore, effective October 1, 2026, MediaNews4U reported.
What’s changing
Mehrotra will add the Singapore CEO mandate to her existing role as Chief Client Officer, APAC. Kamdar most recently served as CEO, Clients & Solutions, Southeast Asia, alongside his Singapore leadership responsibilities.
Kamdar joined dentsu in 2011 after the network acquired his digital agency, The Upper Storey, which launched Isobar in Singapore. He became CEO, Singapore, in September 2019 and later took on broader responsibilities across Singapore, Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
Mehrotra has spent a decade with dentsu. For the last three years, she has been Chief Client Officer, APAC, while also serving as CEO, Media, APAC. She has worked closely with the Singapore team for the past seven years.
Why this matters for marketers
The handover points to a tighter connection between regional client leadership and local market execution. Mehrotra’s dual role is unusual: she keeps oversight of some of dentsu’s largest client relationships across APAC while running the Singapore market.
For brands and agency teams, leadership transitions like this can affect relationship continuity, strategic priorities and the speed of decision-making. Marketing and procurement teams should use the moment to reconfirm key account leads, ways of working and growth commitments.
A useful way to think about it is the “continuity-plus” test: a leadership change should preserve team stability and add a clearer client-growth agenda. If both are not visible within the first 90 days, clients may need to ask sharper questions.
The APAC leadership reset
The Singapore move is not happening in isolation. dentsu has been strengthening senior leadership across the region.
- Hong Kong appointed Helen Cheung as Chief Growth Officer, Media, with a mandate across Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
- Thailand named Phannika Vongsayan as Chief Growth Officer in a newly created role focused on commercial growth and creative capabilities.
- Mehrotra’s Singapore appointment adds a local market CEO title to an existing regional client role.
Yuichi Toyoda, CEO, APAC at dentsu, said Singapore remains an important market for the network because it is a hub for regional and global decision-makers and brands. He also acknowledged Kamdar’s contribution to building the business across Singapore and Southeast Asia.
What to watch next
Look for how Mehrotra balances regional client leadership with Singapore market priorities, and whether dentsu uses the transition to pitch more integrated media, creative and customer experience services. The network’s recent growth appointments suggest a sharper commercial focus in the region.
