Creative agency Brothers & Sisters and boxing not-for-profit Behind The Gloves have launched a campaign built on a simple premise: boxing has six punches, but life often throws a seventh.
Traditionally, the sport is built around the jab, cross, lead hook, rear hook, lead uppercut and rear uppercut. The new campaign introduces the “7th Punch” as the blow nobody expects—a metaphor for the unexpected challenges people face outside the ring.
“There are 6 punches in boxing. We invented a 7th to represent the life event no one saw coming,” said Andy Fowler, founder and ECD of Brothers & Sisters.
From fight film to charity event
The launch film was produced using AI and is set in Mexico in the 1970s, drawing on the country’s boxing heritage. It follows a young boy and his coach, who tells him the story of the mythical seventh punch. The film was made by Everything is Computer, an AI-specialist production company launched in 2025.
The concept feeds directly into Midnight Mayhem, Behind The Gloves’ upcoming charity boxing event in Barcelona on January 19, 2027. The campaign launched September 24 and will run through to the event.
Why marketers should watch
Behind The Gloves is a community-driven nonprofit founded by Lee McFarland. It uses boxing, fitness and corporate engagement, primarily within the iGaming and sports betting sectors, to create wellness experiences and raise funds for charitable causes.
This is not just a sports charity video. It is an example of purpose-led storytelling built around one clear, repeatable metaphor. The “7th Punch” gives the audience an instant mental hook, while participants attach their own personal stories to it.
- 20 participants from the gaming and gambling industry will enter the ring.
- They will complete a six-month boxing training programme before nine bouts.
- The event supports 25 charitable causes and targets €200,000 in fundraising.
The campaign will now roll out video content from amateur fighters sharing their own “7th Punch” stories, helping the narrative travel across businesses globally.
“They’ve helped us tell The 7th Punch story in a way that we simply couldn’t have achieved alone,” said Lee McFarland, founder of Behind The Gloves.
The takeaway for marketing teams
For brands looking to make an event feel bigger than a logo, the campaign shows the value of inventing a simple symbolic idea that people can talk about. The creative is specific, emotional and tied to a concrete deadline, which makes the story easier to cover and share.
