The launch
Ganesh Consumer Products Ltd. recently launched a 30-second television commercial called “Pure Masala. Sure Swaad.” The film stars Bengali actors Raima Sen and Parambrata Chattopadhyay, and was announced from Mumbai on 27 October 2026. TBWA\Lintas, part of Omnicom Advertising India, conceptualised the campaign, and Piinakii Bose directed the spot. It runs primarily for Bengali households in West Bengal, while the brand is also available across Eastern and North-Eastern India, including Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and Assam.
What the film says and how
The ad places its message in an everyday kitchen. Raima Sen cooks and sings the familiar Bengali song “Chirodini Tumi Je Amar,” and Parambrata Chattopadhyay joins her for a playful exchange. She ends up declaring Ganesh Masala to be her true partner before the film closes with the line, “Pure Masala. Sure Swaad.”
The storytelling deliberately favours feeling over process. Instead of opening with colour-sorting machines or purity checks, the film links the product to relationships, food and a tune many viewers grew up with. Purity becomes something you taste at home, not just a claim on a pack.
What the brand and agency say about it
Director Devansh Mimani says Ganesh Consumer Products sees spices as a significant long-term growth opportunity. He positions the launch as a step toward strengthening brand presence, starting with Eastern India. Over three years, the company says it will focus on expanding market presence, strengthening its portfolio and driving innovation in authentic regional spice ranges, building on more than 100 SKUs across CTC, whole and blended spices.
TBWA\Lintas leaders say the category is cluttered and that Ganesh needed to break a pattern. Branch Head-East Indranil Mitra explains that the team gave the brand a couple with chemistry and a song audiences grew up with. Parambrata and Raima were, in his words, the obvious choice. Senior Creative Director Tritritha Chatterjee adds that the team set out to make small pieces of cinema, not ads, with food and nostalgia sharing a table.
The category context
Spices are a rational purchase in many ways, but the campaign leans hard on memory. Ganesh Spices offers more than 60 variants across CTC, whole and blended spices, and the parent company reaches more than 3.5 lakh retail touchpoints. Yet the film downplays that scale and uses advanced colour-sorting technology only as background support for its purity focus.
- Target: Bengali households across West Bengal, across age groups and income segments.
- Reach: Eastern and North-Eastern India, including Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and Assam.
- Channels: general and modern trade outlets, e-commerce platforms and quick-commerce channels.
What to watch next
The company is expanding its portfolio with new launches such as Soya Chunks, a new range of spices and packaged sweets. For marketers, the real test is whether a regional, nostalgia-led film can translate into wider shelf presence beyond West Bengal—and whether this playbook returns for other Eastern and North-Eastern markets.
