Growth engines, not just an offer
Ahead of what the source describes as India’s largest IPO, Jio Platforms Managing Director Akash Ambani told journalists in Mumbai that the company’s next phase will be built on three engines: Mobility, The Home, and Enterprise & International. The roadmap, reported on October 16, frames the listing as a milestone in an ongoing consumer and infrastructure expansion rather than an endpoint.
Ambani said, “The most important unit of our business is our customers.” The company says its focus remains on high-quality, affordable digital services for consumers, homes and enterprises.
Mobility: the next wave of users
Jio sees an industry opportunity of around 340 million new 4G and 5G additions between FY26 and FY31. According to Ambani, about 100 million of those are Indians expected to get a mobile connection for the first time, while another 240 million could migrate from 2G to 4G and 5G. In FY26, Jio added around three times as many net active mobile users as the second-largest player, the source reported.
Jio says it has around 533 million connectivity customers and carries more than 60% of India’s data traffic.
The Home: from 28.6 million to a 100 million target
Jio currently has around 28.6 million fixed broadband customers and sees potential to grow its home base to 100 million. In FY26, the company accounted for about 67.5% of India’s net fixed broadband additions. Ambani said Jio is combining fibre with its own wireless technology to expand reach across nearly 19,000 pin codes.
Enterprise & International: the third engine
The third growth engine was named but not broken down in the same detail in the report. Jio’s stated pillars — Technology, Digital Gateway and Infrastructure — are expected to support the three engines as India’s digital economy expands sharply by FY31.
Why this matters for marketers
For marketing and media professionals, Jio’s roadmap is an audience map. The shift from 2G to 4G and 5G changes the formats, languages and data appetite of the next wave of internet users. The home broadband push, meanwhile, shapes connected-TV viewing, smart-home experiences and high-bandwidth content distribution.
- Mobility: 340 million expected 4G/5G additions by FY31, including about 100 million first-time mobile users.
- Home: 28.6 million fixed broadband customers today, with a target of 100 million homes.
- Enterprise & International: named as a growth engine, with details still to come.
Marketers should track Jio’s subscriber migration and home broadband expansion, because they change connected-TV reach, regional-language demand and B2B channels. At the same time, the next-wave users may not behave like urban early adopters, so low-bandwidth and regional-language creative remain relevant.
The offer’s figures have not been announced.
