Amazon India’s creator-led commerce is scaling far beyond big-city influencers. Between January and September 2026, creators influenced the purchase of 133 million products on the marketplace, a 145% year-on-year jump, according to figures shared with Storyboard18.

The acceleration shows up at every stage. Twenty-eight million shoppers made a direct purchase through a creator recommendation link, up 92% from the same nine-month period a year earlier. Forty-two million shoppers were influenced by creator content, a 50% rise. Creator earnings grew 60% year-on-year even before the Diwali shopping surge.

“This reflects the philosophy of meeting creators where they are,” said Nidhi Thakkar, Head of Social Commerce – Emerging Marketplaces at Amazon.

A Bharat-first creator base

Amazon says it now has more than two lakh creators registered for the Amazon Influencer Program. The striking detail is location: 75% of those creators are from non-metro India, in cities such as Meerut, Nashik, Kanchipuram and Jammu.

That mirrors the customer base. Amazon said 70% of its customers come from non-metros, and 72% of Great Indian Festival day-one visits came from beyond the metros. Thakkar argued that smaller regional creators carry trust, not just reach: audiences treat their recommendations as credible rather than as celebrity endorsement.

Prime members are three times more likely to shop through creators, so the programme reaches both Bharat users and Amazon’s most loyal shoppers.

New distribution: YouTube Shopping and Pinterest

The affiliate journey is expanding to platforms where shoppers already plan purchases. With YouTube Shopping, viewers watching a video can open a native “View Products” panel and check out items without leaving the video. That reduces friction compared with buried description links, which only high-intent users tend to click.

On Pinterest, creators can link their influencer accounts and turn pins into affiliate pins. Niche, high-intent categories such as home décor, wedding shopping and lehengas are the early fit. India is among the countries where the Pinterest integration has rolled out, after the US.

Commission structures stay unchanged. Rates vary by category and sometimes by product, are published monthly, and payments may flow through YouTube.

Creator Connections adds a CPC layer

Amazon is adding a new monetisation route inside Creator Central. A dedicated Creator Connections tab shows brand campaigns matched to what creators already sell. Beauty creators, for instance, might see campaigns from Swiss Beauty or SUGAR with a cost-per-click offer. Once accepted, creators can earn CPC income alongside affiliate commissions.

Amazon has also partnered with Canva and Adobe to make product tagging and editing faster. The pitch, as Thakkar put it, is to give creators “fame, money and love.”

What the shift means for marketers

Creator commerce is becoming a full-funnel channel: awareness through regional trust, conversion through native affiliate touchpoints, and paid consideration through CPC campaigns. For brand marketers, the playbook is shifting from metro celebrity posts to always-on, product-linked creator programmes.

  • Build creator lists by language and category, not follower count.
  • Test YouTube Shopping and Pinterest affiliate pins where purchase intent is high.
  • Add CPC-based brand campaigns to reward clicks, not only completed orders.
  • Publish transparent commission structures so creators can plan content.

Diwali may push these numbers higher, but the direction is already clear: the next wave of India’s creator commerce growth is regional, product-linked and platform-native.
