Volvo Auto India has appointed Karan Arora as director, marketing & PR. He will lead marketing strategy for the Swedish luxury carmaker in India, a brief that spans brand marketing, communications and public relations.
A career built on luxury
Arora brings more than fifteen years of experience across luxury automotive and real estate marketing. At Audi India, where he spent over six years as head of marketing communications and experiential, he led brand launches, events and owner engagement programmes. He has also worked at Jaguar Land Rover as regional business manager for North India.
Beyond cars, Arora has led marketing for luxury residential projects at Godrej Properties, Central Park and Smartworld Developers, and for LIXIL India, whose brands include GROHE and American Standard. Most recently, he served as vice president, marketing at Krisumi Corporation.
He holds an MBA from the International Management Institute, New Delhi, and a Bachelor of Technology from UIET, Panjab University. His awards include the Times Leaders of Tomorrow Award (2024) and the ET Brand Equity Award for Exemplary Leadership & Contribution to Marketing in Real Estate (2026).
Why the move matters
The appointment reflects a hiring logic that is becoming more common in luxury marketing. Brands are valuing leaders who understand high-ticket purchase behaviour across categories, not just within auto. A luxury car, a premium residence and a high-end bathroom fitting may look different, but they often share the same buyer psychology: long consideration, trust in the brand, design sensitivity and an expectation of strong after-sales experience.
For marketing professionals, Arora’s path is a useful reminder that the most portable asset is a playbook, not a badge. Launch management, experiential events, owner communities and premium storytelling all travel well across categories.
The high-ticket transfer lens
When evaluating a marketing leader for luxury, it helps to look at the decision journey rather than the product category. Three questions matter: does the candidate know how to hold attention over a long consideration window? Can they build trust through experiences and community? Do they understand the role of design and after-sales reputation? Arora’s CV answers those questions across cars, homes and premium fittings.
For students and early-career marketers, that is the practical takeaway: document your work in terms of the buyer problem you solved, not just the sector you worked in.
What marketers can borrow
- Map your skills to buyer behaviour, not just industry labels.
- Build campaigns around experiences and owner relationships, not only product features.
- For hiring managers: consider adjacent high-ticket categories when filling luxury roles.
What to watch
Volvo Auto India has not announced specific campaigns, so the real signal will come when the next launch or owner initiative lands. Given Arora’s experience at Audi India, the likely direction is experience-led, community-driven brand marketing—but the proof will be in what the brand actually ships. For now, the appointment itself is the news, and the marketing community will read it as a signal of where luxury auto hiring is headed.
