Amit Bajaj has joined Aon as Head of Regional Marketing and Events, GCC. He moves from Guardian Life, where he was Head – Marketing & Communications and CSR, India.
Why this appointment matters
Global capability centres have been expanding beyond back-office work, and Aon’s framing of the role as an engine for growth and execution is a clear signal. Bajaj said on LinkedIn that he is joining “at an exciting juncture” and wants to “create, build, and reimagine” how the GCC marketing and communications function supports Aon’s wider MarComm organisation.
The remit sounds broad: connect strategy with delivery, strengthen collaboration across regions, and build capabilities that create impact at scale. He thanked James Gatoff, Shiney Prasad and Liz Peterson for the opportunity.
A career built across brands and agencies
Bajaj started as a Marketing Executive at Manav Rachna International University, Faridabad, in 2005, and has since moved through DDB Mudra Group, GE, Michelin and Nissan Motor Corporation.
- Brand management and integrated marketing communications planning
- Experiential and digital marketing, including social media
- Employee engagement and corporate communications
What marketers can take from this
The move reflects how companies are placing senior marketing leaders inside GCCs rather than keeping them only in headquarters. That matters for Indian marketing professionals because the roles are becoming more strategic, with regional ownership and execution responsibilities sitting together.
For Aon, the test will be whether this role leads to more consistent campaigns, stronger events and tighter alignment across the broader MarComm team. For marketers, Bajaj’s path from agency and brand-side roles to a GCC leadership position is a useful reminder that broad, full-stack experience is increasingly the route to regional leadership.
