The news: Redhill Communications has been appointed as the strategic communications partner for Lightrock in India. The global agency will focus on sharpening the investment platform’s corporate narrative, expanding engagement with business and financial media, and building thought leadership around investment and innovation themes in India’s growth economy.
The programme is also expected to raise visibility for Lightrock’s investment approach, portfolio and leadership perspectives, while supporting ongoing communication with business, financial and sectoral stakeholders.
Lightrock at a glance
Lightrock was set up as an independent global investment platform in 2021. It invests across private and public markets and organises its investment activity around three themes: People, Planet and Productivity. The platform advises approximately $5.8 billion in assets, has backed 150 companies globally and operates with a team of more than 130 professionals.
Alasdair Lennon, Marketing and Communications Director at Lightrock, described India as an important market because of its entrepreneurial talent and the opportunity to back businesses that deliver commercial value alongside positive impact. He said the partnership would help articulate the firm’s investment approach and “strengthen our voice and engagement in India.”
Why the mandate matters
For marketing and communications professionals, this is another sign that purpose-led investment platforms are treating communications as a strategic function rather than a supporting activity. Impact investors have a particularly difficult storytelling job: they need to make the financial case and the impact case at the same time, without sounding vague on either front.
A simple test for any impact-investor communications programme is to check whether the narrative answers three questions:
- Does it clarify what the platform actually invests in?
- Does it offer evidence of outcomes, not just intentions?
- Does it give audiences a clear reason to trust the leadership perspective?
If the answer to any of these is weak, more media exposure can amplify the problem rather than solve it.
What Redhill’s India team is signalling
Ankita Juneja, Country Head – India at Redhill Communications, said Lightrock’s investments across important growth sectors create a strong base for “meaningful conversations with business, financial and sectoral audiences.” The agency plans to build a communications programme that strengthens corporate reputation, sharpens thought leadership and brings greater visibility to Lightrock’s expertise in India’s investment ecosystem.
The bigger picture
This win reflects growing demand for integrated strategic communications in the impact economy. Agencies that can speak both the language of finance and the language of social impact will be better placed as more investors and brands compete for attention in India’s growth story.
For agency leaders, the lesson is structural: clients in the investment space increasingly want teams that can move beyond media relations and support corporate positioning, stakeholder engagement and executive visibility as one connected programme. For in-house marketers, the same principle applies: purpose messaging only works when it is backed by a clear investment thesis and demonstrable outcomes.
