Turtle Wax has expanded the regional remit of Dibya Swarup Panigrahi, elevating the India marketing director to a newly broadened role that now includes ASEAN. The move puts one leader in charge of marketing and growth strategy across two high-potential vehicle-care markets.

What the new role covers

As Marketing Director, India & ASEAN, Panigrahi will oversee marketing strategy, consumer engagement programmes, brand architecture and new product development. He will work on two main adoption routes: the retail do-it-yourself (DIY) channel and Turtle Wax’s network of professional co-branded detailing studios.

His mandate also includes strengthening detailing standards, engaging with new-age consumers, supporting detailing professionals and developing vehicle appearance solutions tailored to the region.

  • Retail DIY adoption alongside professional co-branded detailing studios
  • Detailing standards, professional support and localised product solutions

Why regional consolidation matters

For marketing leaders, the promotion signals how consumer brands are structuring growth in Asia. Rather than running India and ASEAN as separate silos, Turtle Wax is aligning brand strategy, product development and channel experience under a single marketing leader. That can speed up go-to-market decisions and make regional campaigns more consistent while leaving room for local execution.

“Turtle Wax has built an iconic global legacy over eight decades by continuously evolving with consumers and their vehicle care needs,” Panigrahi said in a statement. He added that rising vehicle ownership, growing e-commerce adoption and increasing awareness of vehicle preservation create significant opportunities for the company.

Backed by a strong market footprint

The appointment comes as Turtle Wax marks its 80th anniversary and enters a growth phase across India and ASEAN. The company operates in more than 120 countries and set up its Indian subsidiary in 2019, introducing a co-branded studio model aimed at the country’s growing do-it-for-me detailing segment.

Turtle Wax currently has more than 100 Car Care Studios across Tier-1 metros and emerging Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities in India, supported by a 1,500 sq. ft. flagship Experience Centre and a localised manufacturing ecosystem.

What marketing teams can take away

Panigrahi’s background reflects the mix of skills increasingly required for regional marketing roles. He is an alumnus of the Xavier Institute of Management and has held leadership positions at Tata Steel, PETRONAS Lubricants International and Bosch. His experience spans automotive, e-mobility, motorsports, emerging technology and consumer products, and he holds more than 10 patents.

The practical lesson is to think beyond brand campaigns. As Turtle Wax builds its India-ASEAN presence, the growth stack combines retail availability, professional service experiences, consumer education and local product innovation. Marketing teams expanding into new geographies can use the same lens: align brand architecture with channel strategy and solve for the full customer journey, not just awareness.
