Seventh Triangle, an ecommerce and martech agency, has partnered with Shopify India to introduce Commerce Story, an invite-only discussion series for D2C founders, CMOs and ecommerce operators. The first edition took place at The Berry Coworks in Noida and was limited to 25 participants, with the format expected to travel to other cities.

Samriddh Dasgupta, founder of Jaadu Ghar, led the opening conversation. The discussion centred on the operational and strategic challenges that emerge as consumer businesses move from early-stage operations to a larger scale.

Why the format is intentionally small

Rather than hosting a large summit, the series keeps the room curated and small. That structure is designed to support candid peer conversations instead of polished founder narratives. Prashant Gupta, founder of Seventh Triangle, said the agency’s core belief is that long-term ecommerce growth depends on getting the basics right. He added that the agency’s role is to enable client success rather than take credit for it.

Gupta said Commerce Story is meant to surface “practical insights and perspectives” from India’s evolving D2C and ecommerce ecosystem while staying honest, integrity-driven and focused on the long term.

Dasgupta said scaling is “rarely a linear journey.” The real value, he explained, lies in moving beyond success stories and talking openly about challenges, trade-offs and lessons.

Why this matters for D2C marketers

India’s D2C ecosystem has expanded quickly, but many brands face similar bottlenecks as they grow: rising customer acquisition costs, retention pressure, inventory planning and tech stack complexity. Small peer-led formats can surface practical fixes faster because the conversations are tied to operators who are actively working through the same problems.

A useful lens when listening to founders discuss scale is to identify the limiting constraint in each growth phase:

  • Acquisition: Can paid media scale without destroying contribution margin?
  • Conversion: Are landing pages and offers aligned with high-intent traffic?
  • Retention: Is repeat purchase behaviour strong enough to offset rising CAC?
  • Operations: Are fulfilment speed and customer experience keeping pace with order volume?

These four areas usually determine whether a D2C brand scales profitably or just adds revenue. Commerce Story is positioned to bring such operational realities into a founder-only setting.

What to watch next

The city-by-city rollout makes the series worth following for founders and marketing leaders who prefer smaller, high-context peer sessions over large conferences. For early-stage D2C teams, the immediate takeaway is to audit current growth bottlenecks before chasing new acquisition channels. For agencies and platform partners, the launch also signals that Shopify India is investing in community-led engagement with emerging brands, not just product-led support.
