WOI India has named Pankaj Madaan as Head – Marketing & Partnerships, handing a consumer technology and retail marketer the job of strengthening the organisation’s brand and partner network across India’s startup ecosystem.
Madaan joins after more than two decades in marketing leadership. Most recently, he was General Manager – Marketing at Transsion Holdings, where he managed marketing for TECNO, itel and Spice. Earlier roles include Datawind Innovations, HCL Infosystems and Spice Retail, with a focus on integrated marketing, product launches, brand strategy, retail activation and go-to-market execution.
What the role covers
WOI India said Madaan will lead marketing and brand strategy while developing partnerships across startup, corporate, investor and institutional networks. His responsibilities include strengthening brand presence, expanding stakeholder engagement and increasing visibility for WOI India’s initiatives.
His immediate priorities are:
- Strengthening WOI India’s brand and positioning.
- Building strategic partnerships with startups, corporates, investors and institutions.
- Driving national campaigns, including the upcoming Great Indian StartUp Month.
Why this hire is worth watching
The move is an example of ecosystem marketing, where brand work is planned around founders, capital, industry and institutions as one connected network. WOI India is not a single-product business; it works across education, venture studios, community, Centres of Excellence, infrastructure and capital. For a marketer, that means visibility is only one part of the remit.
Amar Dixit, CEO, WOI India, said the appointment brings “building brands, driving business growth and executing marketing strategies at scale” to the organisation at a stage when it is strengthening its national presence.
Madaan described the move as a chance to work on “building a connected entrepreneurial ecosystem” that brings founders, capital, industry and institutions closer together. That framing matters for marketing teams: the brand has to earn relevance with several audiences at once.
What to watch next
The first tangible milestone is Great Indian StartUp Month, which will show whether the new marketing leadership can turn a national calendar moment into partner and founder engagement.
The appointment is a reminder not to treat partnerships as a one-off PR exercise, and not to separate brand building from stakeholder engagement. For ecosystem platforms, repeated engagement across founders, investors and institutions tends to matter more than a single campaign moment. Marketers watching this space should map stakeholder groups early, tie campaigns to ecosystem priorities, and measure engagement across partners rather than reach alone.
