Amazon India’s creator-led commerce is no longer an add-on to its festive season playbook. The platform’s influencer programme has crossed two lakh registered creators, and the buying signals from outside the metros are now impossible to ignore.

The Bharat engine behind the numbers

Three-quarters of Amazon India’s influencer base now comes from non-metro cities such as Meerut, Nashik, Kanchipuram and Jammu. That geographic shift is showing up in purchase behaviour too. Between January and September 2026, creators influenced the purchase of 133 million products, a 145% year-on-year jump, while 28 million shoppers completed purchases through a creator recommendation link — up 92%.

  • 2 lakh: registered Amazon Influencer Program creators, with 75% outside metros
  • 42 million: shoppers influenced by creators, up 50% year on year
  • 28 million: shoppers who bought directly through creator links, up 92%
  • 133 million: products influenced by creators, up 145%
  • 60%: growth in creator earnings before the Diwali surge

Making discovery and purchase the same step

The more consequential shift is structural. Amazon has taken affiliate commerce into YouTube Shopping, where viewers can open a product panel without leaving the video. It has also connected its influencer programme to Pinterest, turning pins into affiliate shopping surfaces for home décor, wedding planning and similar high-intent categories.

For creators, this lowers the old obstacle of sending audiences to a link in a description. A travel creator can tag the camera used on a trek; a parent blogger can tag a product shared in a story. Brands, in turn, reach audiences at the moment of interest rather than after the fact.

Creator Connections turns influence into performance

Amazon is also giving creators a more campaign-style earning path through Creator Connections. Inside Creator Central, creators see brand campaigns matched to what they sell — beauty creators might see briefs from Swiss Beauty or SUGAR — with a cost-per-click payment on top of existing affiliate commissions.

This moves influencer work closer to performance marketing: marketers can pay for clicks and purchases, not just borrowed reach. Amazon has paired the payments shift with production support through Canva templates and Adobe tools that sync with product tags, making it easier for smaller creators to produce shoppable content.

What it means for marketing teams

The non-metro creator base mirrors the customer base: 70% of Amazon India’s customers sit outside metros, and the Great Indian Festival drew 72% of its visits from beyond the metros. Prime members are also three times more likely to shop through creators, so creator commerce is not a niche Bharat play — it reaches both regional shoppers and the platform’s most loyal buyers.

For brands, the practical shift is to treat nano and micro creators outside the top cities as a performance channel, not a branding afterthought. Brief them for native product tags, link affiliate commissions with CPC guarantees, and measure trust and conversion rather than follower count alone. The old split between “branding via celebrities” and “performance via search” is blurring into a single creator-led purchase journey.
