Mumbai: Boomerang Collaborations has picked up the public relations mandate for VinFast India, with Velocity Fintrust named as a collaborator on the account. The agency will lead media communications for the global electric vehicle brand as it works to build a stronger footprint in India.
What the mandate covers
According to the announcement, Boomerang Collaborations will handle strategic media outreach, press relations, brand storytelling, product communication, thought leadership and influencer engagement. The remit also includes communication around VinFast India’s key launches, initiatives and milestones.
- Strategic media relations and press office
- Brand storytelling and product communication
- Thought leadership and influencer engagement
- Launch and milestone communication
- Mainstream media advertising and digital communications support
- Event-led brand engagement
The larger plan is to position VinFast as a progressive, technology-driven and globally experienced EV player for Indian consumers and automotive stakeholders.
Why the account matters
India’s electric mobility market is moving from early adoption to an increasingly competitive phase. For a global EV brand, visibility alone is not enough; the communications strategy has to build trust around technology, charging, service and total cost of ownership. That makes the PR mandate more strategic than a traditional media-relations brief.
Shrey Goel, Director, Boomerang Collaborations, said the team is excited to work with VinFast as the brand strengthens its India presence. He added that the goal is to “build strong brand visibility, create meaningful conversations and establish VinFast as a credible and aspirational EV brand in India.”
Vikas Bohra, Vice President, Velocity Fintrust, said the partnership will leverage an integrated communications approach to connect VinFast with consumers, media and the wider automotive ecosystem.
Reading the mandate through PESO
The announced scope maps closely to the PESO model—Paid, Earned, Shared and Owned media. Earned media sits at the core through PR and press relations, while influencer engagement adds shared media, and mainline and digital advertising bring a paid layer. Event-led engagement and brand storytelling strengthen owned and experiential channels.
For agencies and brand-side marketers, this is a useful reminder that modern automotive communication is no longer a single-channel exercise. A consistent narrative across earned, shared, owned and paid touchpoints is what builds credibility and salience in a crowded EV category.
What to watch next
The immediate test will be how well the communication is localised for Indian consumers. Product stories, influencer content and event moments will need to connect global EV expertise with Indian usage realities. For PR professionals, the account also adds to the growing list of automotive and corporate mandates moving toward integrated scope rather than pure media relations.
