SAP Concur India has elevated Sanjay Kumar Chaudhary as senior marketing director and head of marketing, a source close to the development told ET BrandEquity. The appointment puts a long-time enterprise marketing leader in charge of the travel and expense platform’s India marketing mandate.
Chaudhary brings more than 25 years of B2B marketing experience. His expertise covers demand generation, account-based marketing, product marketing and go-to-market strategy. That combination is especially relevant for a business expense product, where the buyer journey runs through finance, travel administration and procurement teams rather than a single marketing persona.
From SAP India to SAP Concur
Before this move, Chaudhary was head of marketing for finance and spend management for the Indian subcontinent at SAP India. He has also held marketing leadership roles at Intellect Design Arena and Lentra.AI, where he worked on demand generation and marketing functions across international markets.
Earlier, he spent 13 years at Oracle India in a range of marketing leadership roles, covering enterprise technology and go-to-market strategy for banking, financial services, insurance and the public sector.
Why the appointment matters
SAP Concur is SAP’s business travel and expense management platform. Organisations use it to manage travel, expenses and related processes. For marketers, that makes it a finance-led enterprise sale: campaigns need to speak to cost control, policy compliance and process efficiency, not just convenience.
Chaudhary’s move from SAP India’s finance and spend management marketing role suggests continuity rather than a fresh external reset. It also signals that B2B leadership roles in India are prioritising depth in demand generation and account-based marketing, especially in enterprise software categories where long sales cycles and multi-stakeholder buying committees are the norm.
What B2B marketers can borrow
For teams running enterprise campaigns, the profile behind this appointment offers a simple playbook.
- Map the full buying committee. Finance, IT, travel administration and procurement may each influence the decision.
- Blend demand generation with account-based marketing. Treat high-value accounts as markets of one while continuing broader nurture programmes.
- Lead with outcomes. Spend visibility, faster reconciliation and policy compliance often matter more than product features.
The watchout is equally clear: don’t run generic B2B messaging for finance or travel technology. Use the finance lens in campaign language, and design named-account plays alongside top-of-funnel demand generation.
For marketing students and early-career professionals, the path is instructive: a career built across demand generation, industry verticals and product categories creates the kind of profile enterprise software firms look for when filling senior marketing roles.
