Turtle Wax has elevated Dibya Swarup Panigrahi from Marketing Director, India, to a broader regional position as Marketing Director, India & ASEAN. The expanded remit puts him in charge of marketing and growth strategy across India and Southeast Asia at a time when the automotive aftermarket is becoming more competitive and channel-led.

The new mandate

Panigrahi will oversee marketing strategy, consumer engagement programmes, brand architecture and new product development across the region. His focus will be on driving consumer adoption through two distinct routes: retail do-it-yourself channels and Turtle Wax’s growing network of professional co-branded detailing studios.

Turtle Wax describes the appointment as a leadership-strengthening move as it accelerates expansion in South Asia and Southeast Asia.

In a statement, Panigrahi said:

“With rising vehicle ownership, growing e-commerce adoption, and increasing awareness of vehicle preservation, I see significant opportunities to leverage regional synergies, deepen consumer engagement, and build a strong community of loyal Turtle Wax advocates.”

Why the India–ASEAN remit matters

For marketing professionals, the announcement is a useful signal about how global consumer brands are organising for emerging-market growth. Turtle Wax operates in more than 120 countries, but it is treating India and ASEAN as a connected regional theatre rather than as completely separate marketing silos.

The brand entered India in 2019 by launching a co-branded studio model tailored to the country’s strong do-it-for-me detailing preference. That model has since grown to more than 100 Car Care Studios across Tier-1 metros and emerging Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. It is backed by a 1,500 sq ft flagship Experience Centre and a localised manufacturing ecosystem.

The channel playbook to watch

  • Dual demand: retail DIY products for at-home care and professional DIFM services through co-branded studios.
  • Localised experience: a flagship experience centre and city-level studio network designed around local detailing habits.
  • Regional portfolio view: one leader connecting brand architecture, innovation and new product development across India and ASEAN.

The operator behind the strategy

Panigrahi brings a techno-commercial profile to the role. An alumnus of the Xavier Institute of Management, he has held leadership positions at Tata Steel, PETRONAS Lubricants International and Bosch, where he was part of the global fast-track Junior Managers Program. The company also cites his experience leading global projects, managing category and brand strategy, and building omnichannel go-to-market plans. He holds more than 10 patents and has worked with a wide set of startups, OEMs, regulators, research institutions and agencies.

What marketers should take away

The promotion highlights a practical framework for aftermarket and consumer categories: segment demand by service preference instead of forcing one global retail playbook. Marketers managing adjacent geographies can also test a unified regional brand mandate while keeping location-level studio or service partners as the execution layer.

As Turtle Wax marks its 80th anniversary, the company is betting that a single marketing and growth leader across India and ASEAN can scale both consumer education and professional service standards more quickly.
