Hitachi Digital has promoted Renaissa Ghosh Papnai to India marketing and communications head, handing her the marketing and communications charter for one of the group’s fastest-growing markets. Based in Noida, she has held the role since April 2026 after nearly seven years with the company.
The appointment is a homegrown bet. Ghosh Papnai joined Hitachi Digital in August 2019 as assistant manager, marketing communications, and has since moved through deputy manager, marketing and communications, and internal communications lead for India before stepping into the top India remit.
What she owns
Her remit spans integrated communications and marketing strategy, brand positioning, employee and executive communications, and high-impact experiences that accelerate business outcomes, foster culture and strengthen market presence.
“Great brands are built through authentic stories, meaningful experiences and bold ideas,” she says, describing her philosophy.
- Corporate communications, internal and external
- Leadership positioning and executive communications
- Employer branding and employee engagement
- Public relations and integrated campaign strategy
A career built on narratives
Ghosh Papnai brings more than 15 years of experience across public relations, publishing, semiconductors and fintech. She began as an intern at Sahara India in 2011 and later worked with Value 360 Communications on brands including ASUS, Kaun Banega Crorepati and Sony Liv. Stints at Om Books International, Rupa Publications India and Aleph Book Company put her at the centre of book launches and publicity campaigns for authors and public figures.
At NXP Semiconductors, she built monthly publicity, PR and branding strategy, managed media interviews for top management and launched NXP Bridge, an employee newsletter. At Fiserv, as specialist, branding and communications, she strengthened brand visibility through public forums, sponsorships and industry collaborations, conceptualised CSR campaigns, and implemented internal communication strategies that lifted employee satisfaction and engagement scores by 20 per cent.
Why it matters
For marketing leaders, this move is a reminder that internal communication and employer branding are not support functions. Ghosh Papnai’s record at Fiserv shows that deliberate internal campaigns can move engagement metrics, and her promotion signals that Hitachi Digital wants that discipline to shape its external India story as well.
The appointment also underscores the value of a visible internal growth path. When high-potential talent can see a line from specialist to country head, organisations retain the context and relationships that external hires have to rebuild.
What to take away
If you want internal communications to be taken seriously, attach it to a measurable outcome. Use engagement scores, employee satisfaction or campaign reach as proof, then bring that evidence into brand and executive visibility work.
Her route from book publicity to semiconductors to fintech also shows that narrative skills transfer across industries. The common thread is not the sector but the ability to turn complex ideas into simple stories that move an audience.
