Wonderful Pistachios, the largest grower and processor of pistachios and distributor of California Pistachios, has brought the latest edition of its “The Better Snack” campaign to India. Instead of limiting pistachios to festivals and gifting seasons, the push positions them as an everyday bite, with India’s chai break as the anchor occasion.

Where the campaign is showing up

The media plan spans high-visibility out-of-home and print in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata. Premium sites include the Bandra cluster in Mumbai and Golf Course Road in Gurgaon. On social, digital creators will build relatable snacking moments around work desks, tea breaks and screen time, while a Blinkit collaboration shortens the path from seeing the campaign to ordering a pack.

Why tea-time is the strategic centre

The timing is backed by consumption data. The Farmley Healthy Snacking Report 2026, cited by the brand, finds that 86% of Indian snackers say protein is important when choosing a snack, and evening tea-time ranks as India’s top snacking occasion across age groups, city tiers and lifestyles. A 28 gram serving of California Pistachios delivers six grams of protein, giving the campaign a concrete claim for health-aware buyers.

The report also points to a generational split: consumers aged 16 to 35 are more likely to snack to satisfy cravings, while those above 35 increasingly snack for an energy boost. That lets the brand speak to taste and nutrition without choosing one lane.

“Snacking is an integral part of everyday life in India,” said Shail Pancholi, spokesperson for California Pistachios in India. “With ‘The Better Snack’ we want to make pistachios a more natural part of these everyday occasions — from chai breaks to work desks to unwinding with a screen.”

The playbook behind the push

For marketers, the campaign is a reminder that a product can outgrow a narrow occasion by attaching itself to an existing daily ritual rather than trying to create a new one. The Blinkit element adds speed, and the protein stat gives creators a simple, repeatable proof point.

  • Chai time is already India’s most common snacking moment, so the campaign rides an existing habit instead of building demand from scratch.
  • The six-gram protein figure per 28 gram serving turns a broad health claim into something shoppers can compare.
  • Quick-commerce placement through Blinkit reduces the gap between impulse and purchase.

The rollout will test whether a nut long associated with celebration can become a default workday snack. If the tea-time framing works, it could widen the category well beyond its traditional seasonal calendar.
