Snap Inc. has launched ‘Inner Circle’, a Snapchat brand campaign built around a specific shopping behaviour: Gen Z’s festive buying often starts inside trusted group chats, not with a broad-reach ad. The campaign has brought in Myntra, Instamart and Nykaa as partners.

What the campaign shows

The films follow peer-driven festive moments: friends weighing in on wedding outfits, swapping beauty recommendations and sorting last-minute Diwali needs. In each story, the purchase traces back to a conversation among close friends, where a suggestion in chat turns into action.

The storytelling is deliberately cultural. It positions Snapchat not as a supplementary media channel but as the place where advice is shared and decisions take shape.

Why chat is becoming the storefront

Snap Inc.’s Head of Marketing – India, Ankit Goyle, argues that festive shopping is no longer linear. For Gen Z, he says, the decision begins with people they trust—a friend’s opinion, a shared Snap, a fit check or a recommendation in chat.

That shift is backed by research from GWI and Snapchat on India’s festive shopping journey, released earlier this year. Snapchat points to the commercial stakes: Gen Z’s collective spending power is projected to reach $2 trillion by 2035.

The platform’s pitch is that brands should aim to be part of the conversation, not merely visible next to it. As Goyle puts it: “The opportunity for brands is not simply to be seen, but to become part of the conversation that shapes the decision.”

What the brand partners are saying

Instamart’s Rahul Doss frames the tie-up around spontaneous festive moments: friends dropping by, last-minute plans and the small essentials that make a gathering memorable. Myntra’s Neha Gulati describes festive fashion as deeply social—where a simple fit check in chat can turn inspiration into confidence and action.

Both views signal a move from co-branded campaigns to behaviour-level positioning: meeting shoppers inside a conversation they already trust.

The media plan

The campaign is running as films across major digital platforms, supported by out-of-home and digital out-of-home presence in Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Bengaluru. The city mix is a direct bet on urban Gen Z shoppers who drive festive spending and set early trends.

What marketers can take from it

  • Peer proof beats reach: a recommendation from a close friend carries more weight than another festive ad impression.
  • Design for the chat screen: fit checks, outfit polls and shareable recommendations are native formats for decision-making.
  • Measure the middle: track how chat-led discovery becomes search, add-to-cart and purchase, not just video views.
