Bosch Home Appliances has teamed up with creative partner Ting to launch Kitchen Up, a new campaign featuring actor Vikrant Massey. Instead of leading with product specifications, the film follows the emotional arc of Massey’s own journey—from his mother’s tiffin business to buying his first home—and uses it to reframe what a kitchen upgrade means.
Why the campaign leads with a life story
Most kitchen and home upgrade advertising starts with features, finishes and appliance performance. Bosch and Ting are deliberately doing the opposite. The film positions an upgraded kitchen as a reflection of changing needs and aspirations, not just a replacement of appliances.
“An upgrade is rarely about the appliance. It’s about what the home has come to mean to someone, and what the next chapter looks like.”
Aadil Mehta, Partner at Ting, said this while explaining the campaign. He added that in an era where AI is making everything faster and more automated, the agency wanted to slow down and build the story around Massey’s personal journey.
The phased rollout
Ting orchestrated a two-stage release. The pre-launch phase introduced the broader theme of personal progress and everyday upgrades. The Vikrant Massey film then brought that narrative to life, tracing milestones such as buying a first family car, moving into a first home and upgrading familiar spaces.
What Bosch is aiming for
Nitin Mishra, Senior Director – Brand Management (Region India) at BSH Home Appliances India, said the ambition is to inspire Indian consumers to look beyond conventional kitchens and reimagine them as spaces that reflect aspiration, individuality and changing needs. The company also wants to accelerate awareness and aspiration for built-in appliances in India while strengthening Bosch’s position as a partner for modern kitchens.
For marketing professionals, Kitchen Up is a reminder that considered purchases often respond better to narrative than to specification sheets—especially when the product is meant to be lived with daily. By tying the upgrade to life stages, Bosch makes a technical category feel more emotionally accessible.
What marketers can borrow
- Anchor on a real milestone. The film uses personal life stages, not product categories, to create relevance.
- Sequence the story. A pre-launch theme phase built context before the hero film arrived.
- Put the product in the background. Appliance features become the natural next step rather than the opening argument.
