Ai+ Smartphone has signed on as the “Powered By” partner for New Zealand Cricket around India’s upcoming tour—a 12-match series beginning October 22, 2026. The series includes five T20Is, five ODIs and two Tests, and comes as India and New Zealand mark 100 years of sporting ties.

The tour is part of New Zealand’s “100 Years of Unity through Sport” celebrations, which bring together sporting disciplines through the year. For Ai+ Smartphone, the deal creates an integrated brand presence across all three formats and across five major centres: Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga. New Zealand Cricket says the 12-match itinerary is the largest inbound international tour in the board’s history by match count.

Why a 12-match tour is a strategic window

Bilateral India cricket tours offer brands a different value proposition from one-day event sponsorships. A 12-match schedule provides sustained audience touchpoints over several weeks, spanning short-form entertainment, one-day cricket and long-format Test matches. That variety lets a technology brand speak to different audience segments without changing the core sponsorship message.

The partnership is also tied to a moment of cultural significance. The centenary year gives Ai+ Smartphone a narrative layer beyond product features: it positions the brand as part of a shared India–New Zealand story. This is especially useful for a challenger brand seeking relevance in a market where cricket is a powerful unifying force.

What brand and cricket leaders said

Archi Gogoi, Head of Brand, Marketing & Growth at Ai+ Smartphone, said, “Technology and sport share a common language of performance, innovation and constant evolution, and this partnership allows us to bring that connection to life in a meaningful way.” Gogoi added that the 100-year celebration makes the tour an exciting platform to engage audiences in both markets.

Geoff Allott, CEO of New Zealand Cricket, welcomed Ai+ Smartphone as the series’ “Powered By” partner and described India’s tour as one of the major highlights of the home season. Lokesh Sharma, Managing Director of TCM, said the association brings together a fast-growing consumer technology brand and one of the most significant bilateral tours on the international calendar. TCM Sports, NZC’s exclusive naming-rights and on-ground partner, facilitated the deal. TCM has worked with New Zealand Cricket since 2019.

Sponsorship lessons for marketing teams

The Ai+ Smartphone–NZC tie-up is a useful mini case study for brand teams evaluating sponsorship opportunities. It shows several clear principles:

  • Choose a sustained platform. A 12-match series creates repeated exposure rather than a single-match spike.
  • Anchor to a cultural moment. The centenary gives the partnership a story that can travel beyond sport.
  • Map brand values to the property. The link between technology, performance and innovation is simple and clearly stated.
  • Leverage experienced intermediaries. TCM Sports’ long NZC relationship likely helped structure a commercially relevant deal.

What happens next

The opening match is scheduled in Christchurch on October 22, with the white-ball leg moving through Wellington, Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga before the Test series concludes. The final Test is scheduled at Hagley Oval from November 27 to December 1.

For marketing observers, the key watch-out is activation. Sponsorship value will depend on how Ai+ Smartphone uses the rights—through on-ground experiences, creator and influencer tie-ins, retail activations or digital storytelling. The strongest next step would be to turn the “Powered By” association into visible fan experiences that reinforce the brand’s performance positioning, rather than treating the partnership as logo exposure alone.
