The launch

Amazon India has rolled out a three-film campaign for the Amazon Great Indian Festival, which starts 8 October. RVCJ Media conceptualised and executed the films, with actor Kavita Kaushik leading the story as the campaign’s detective face. The announcement does not name a director or break out the media plan.

Two characters, Daamdaar and Bharose, carry the cases through the series, and the brand’s promise stays consistent throughout: “Daam Daamdaar. Bharosa Bharosemand.”

What the film says and how

The campaign starts from a question shoppers already ask when a price seems too good: “Itna sasta kaise?” It treats that doubt as the beginning of an investigation, not as an objection to overcome. The films turn price and trust into story beats, with each case landing in a different shopping setting.

  • Kitchen essentials set up the first case.
  • Creator gear gives the detectives a content-making world.
  • Gen Z fashion moves the format into style-led shopping.

Kaushik’s casting adds another layer of recognition. Viewers who know her as Chandramukhi Chautala from F.I.R. already associate her with an investigative persona, which makes the format easy to read even before the new characters are established. Across the three films, the setting changes but the structure repeats: a low price creates a question, and the resolution returns to Amazon’s price-and-trust promise.

What the brand and agency say

Pooja Sachdev, co-founder of RVCJ Media, said the team wanted to give a familiar reaction a distinctive treatment. “We picked Kavita Kaushik because her comic timing and the audience’s familiarity with her investigative persona made her a natural fit,” she explained. “The aim was to create characters and situations viewers would enjoy and remember, while keeping Amazon’s price-and-trust proposition central to the story.”

The category context

Festive sale advertising in India often leads with discount intensity and urgency. This campaign makes a different choice: it leads with character and narrative, and lets the deal message sit inside the story. That gives the three films a reason to be watched as a series, rather than as isolated product spots.

The recurring detective world also gives Amazon a flexible structure. One proposition can travel across kitchen, creator and Gen Z fashion categories without forcing the brand to restate its value from scratch each time.

What to watch next

The test is whether Daamdaar and Bharose become a repeatable property beyond the festive window. Watch whether Amazon extends the characters into more product categories, and whether other festive sale advertisers follow with narrative formats instead of price-led spots. The larger measure may be whether entertainment-led creative strengthens trust and recall without burying the offer itself.
