Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) in Namibia has opened its 2026 “Under the Cap” promotion with a clear shift toward cash rewards. The nationwide campaign launched on 1 September and runs through 31 December, offering consumers a share of N$1 million (about US$61,460) in prizes.

The promotion is already moving fast: the company says more than 100,000 entries were recorded in the first two weeks alone.

What the campaign offers

The four-month push includes a N$50,000 grand prize and weekly cash giveaways. Faith Nehanda, Senior Manager of Marketing at the Coca-Cola East and Central Africa Franchise, said: “We’re excited to reward our loyal consumers in Namibia with their share of N$1 million in cash prizes, including weekly cash prizes of N$5,000.”

  • Grand prize: N$50,000 cash
  • Weekly cash prizes: N$5,000
  • Total prize pool: N$1 million (approx. US$61,460)
  • Campaign window: 1 September to 31 December 2026
  • Participating packs: 330ml, 500ml, 600ml, 1L, 1.25L and 2L plastic bottles
  • Eligible brands: Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Fanta, Sprite, Twist, Sparletta and Stoney

A continuation, not a one-off

CCBA says the Under the Cap mechanic builds on previous promotions that rewarded more than 6,800 Namibians with home appliances, electronics and airtime over the past two years. This year’s version is notable because it puts cash at the centre rather than physical prizes.

Henry Friedrich, General Manager of CCBA in Namibia, said the promotion is designed around everyday consumer moments. “It gives people across Namibia the opportunity to win while sharing in the refreshment and connection our brand represents,” he said.

Why this matters for marketers

For marketing professionals, the early 100,000-entry figure is a useful signal. Under-the-cap promotions often work because the entry mechanic is low-effort and closely tied to a product that already has high purchase frequency. By shifting from appliances to cash, Coca-Cola is also responding to a broader consumer preference for flexible rewards.

The campaign arrives shortly after Coca-Cola’s Share a Coke initiative won the Most Innovative Marketing Campaign award at the inaugural MTC Branding and Marketing Excellence Awards in Namibia. That recognition, paired with a high-volume promotional mechanic, gives the brand a strong local news hook.

The takeaway

For agencies and brand teams, the lesson is not just “use cash prizes.” It is the combination of a simple mechanic, wide pack coverage and a clear reward hierarchy — weekly wins sustain participation, while a larger grand prize gives the campaign a talking point. A four-month window also creates room for repeated participation, with weekly prizes acting as a cadence that can bring buyers back to the fixture.
