Comviva has appointed Kalyanasundaram Sivasubramaniam as Product Unit Head for its DigiTech business, handing him charge of the digital transformation firm’s platform portfolio — including its intelligent digital business platform, BlueMarble.
The mandate is growth-heavy: strengthen DigiTech’s market position, scale the platform-led business internationally, and push deeper into strategic markets, with North America and Europe named as priorities. He will also be responsible for widening Comviva’s enterprise opportunity alongside its long-standing relationships with communications service providers.
The Agentic AI brief
The most telling part of the appointment is what sits at the centre of his remit. Comviva says a key part of the role is accelerating the evolution of its platforms through Agentic AI, intelligent automation and autonomous capabilities — the goal being to help businesses move past conventional digital transformation towards operations that are more adaptive, intelligent and outcome-driven.
The company is also building towards a next generation of Agentic AI-powered BSS (business support systems) solutions, as telecom operators and enterprises lean harder on AI, cloud and SaaS for agility and automation.
Who he is
Kalyanasundaram joins from Salesforce, where the company says he played a key role in building and scaling its Agentic Partner Cloud platform and business. He brings more than 25 years across technology, product engineering and platform leadership, spanning telecom, enterprise technology and SaaS.
Earlier in his career he held senior R&D, product and delivery leadership roles at:
- Nokia Siemens Networks
- Redknee
- Dynacommerce
- Netcracker
Across those roles he worked on building technology platforms, leading complex product programmes and scaling businesses in global markets.
What leadership said
Comviva CEO Rajesh Chandiramani described the company as being at an “exciting inflection point” in its growth journey, with an ambition to build a more agile, platform-led and AI-powered technology business with a significantly broader enterprise opportunity. He positioned DigiTech as an important pillar of that plan and BlueMarble as the foundation for Comviva’s leadership in digital business transformation.
Kalyanasundaram said he was joining at a “pivotal moment”, pointing to Comviva’s digital BSS and commerce portfolio as a base to redefine how telecom operators and enterprises build, operate and scale digital businesses. He flagged accelerating adoption of AI-led capabilities and expansion into new markets as his priorities, working with customers, partners and the leadership team.
Why it matters for marketers
BSS platforms may sound like plumbing, but they are increasingly where customer experience gets decided. Billing, catalogue, offer management and digital commerce all sit in that layer — which means the speed at which a telco can launch a plan, personalise a bundle or run a retention offer is a function of platform capability, not just campaign creativity.
Layer Agentic AI on top and the marketing implication sharpens. Agentic systems do not just recommend; they act within defined guardrails — triggering offers, resolving service issues, adjusting journeys. For CMOs in telecom and large enterprises, that shifts the conversation from “what campaign do we run” to “what decisions are we willing to delegate to a system”.
Two practical takeaways:
- Audit the handoffs. Most personalisation failures are not model failures — they are integration failures between marketing stacks and business support systems. Map where offer logic actually lives.
- Define the guardrails early. Before agentic automation touches pricing or retention offers, agree the boundaries, approval thresholds and audit trails with product and compliance teams.
The appointment also signals a broader hiring pattern worth watching: platform companies are recruiting leaders with hands-on agentic AI experience from hyperscalers and SaaS majors, rather than promoting purely from within telecom. Expect that talent flow to continue as AI-native platforms move from pitch decks to production.
