Nestlé India’s Maggi Noodles category is set for a leadership change. Kanika Juneja has stepped down as Category Marketing Head after a six-year run with the company, she announced on LinkedIn.
Juneja joined Nestlé in September 2020 and took charge of the Maggi Noodles category in March 2024. Before leading the category, she was Marketing Manager – Maggi Flavor World and Digital Head – Maggi, working across the brand’s cooking aids portfolio of spices, coconut milk and cubes while also overseeing its digital mandate.
A tenure measured in culture, not just share
In her exit note, Juneja described the Maggi assignment as a dream role for a marketer. She also made the brand-building ambition clear. In her words, the biggest source of pride came from “Making MAGGI part of culture, while remaining unmistakably MAGGI.”
That framing points to the challenge many legacy FMCG marketers face: keeping a decades-old brand relevant without losing the distinctiveness that made it familiar. For Maggi, the answer during her tenure included several initiatives beyond conventional campaigns.
- Maggi’s 50-year India Post commemorative stamp – a formal cultural milestone tied to the brand’s anniversary in India.
- MAGGI × UNIQLO collaboration – a lifestyle crossover aimed at building contemporary brand visibility.
- Apna Food Business – an initiative designed to take the brand’s impact beyond standard marketing programmes.
Juneja also cited business milestones in growth, market share and volumes, while positioning cultural relevance as the final takeaway from her tenure.
Why this matters for marketers
Category marketing head exits at high-visibility FMCG brands are worth tracking because they can influence campaign direction, agency relationships, innovation priorities and team structures. For agencies and martech partners working with Nestlé, the transition is also a reminder to stay close to how briefs and strategic priorities evolve.
For marketers building a career in FMCG, Juneja’s path is instructive. She moved from digital and portfolio marketing for Maggi to full category leadership, reflecting how digital capability and broader brand management now feed into category-owner roles.
The career path behind the move
Juneja’s experience spans more than 14 years across FMCG and nutrition businesses. At GSK Consumer Healthcare India, she worked on the Horlicks portfolio, including Women’s Horlicks, Mother’s Horlicks and Horlicks Protein+, with responsibilities covering communication, go-to-market planning, product development, pricing and portfolio growth.
Before that, she spent close to three years at ITC across the Sunfeast portfolio in marketing and sales, working on premium cream biscuits, crackers and launches such as Yumfills. She began her career at Dabur India.
Juneja has not disclosed her next professional move.
