The irritation isn’t usually caused by a broken workflow. It happens when marketing automation responds to a trigger but forgets what else the customer has already done. You register for a webinar, attend it, click the follow-up email, and browse product pages. The next message invites you to register for that same webinar. From a system standpoint, each trigger fired correctly. From the customer’s standpoint, the sequence felt disconnected.

For marketing and martech teams, this is a useful reminder that automation quality is not just about having the right trigger. It’s about giving the system enough memory to make the next interaction feel like a continuation, not a reset.
