Boots has kicked off the UK Christmas ad season with its 2026 festive campaign, ‘For Gifts They’ll Really Love’, the first under the retailer’s ‘Give it Some Boots’ brand platform introduced in September. The push pairs a 60-second brand film with value-led product marketing and a deep multi-channel media investment.

A gift-led creative idea

The hero film shows people becoming attached to beauty, wellness and electrical gifts long after Christmas Day. Products are central to the story, including the Shark Cryoglow LED Face Mask, Dyson Airwrap, Jo Malone London English Pear & Freesia fragrance, No7 Future Renew Collection and Oral-B iO9 electric toothbrush.

Boots premiered the film on its digital channels before the wider TV launch on 6 November, when the retailer expects to reach six million people over the launch weekend. For the first time, Boots is also cutting the campaign into 20-second TV edits, supported by 18 additional ads carrying product and seasonal-offer messages.

Value and the integrated media plan

Value sits at the centre of the festive push. More than 1,200 gifts are included in the three-for-two promotion, and selected Star Gifts are priced below half their usual cost. The line-up spans Olaplex, Charlotte Tilbury, Jo Malone London and Boots’ own No7.

Boots is running the campaign as a full-funnel exercise. The integrated marketing strategy comes from WPP, with creative by VML and film production by Biscuit Filmworks. Boots expects the campaign to generate more than 300 million video views and reach 90% of women in the ABC1 demographic through its audiovisual activity.

  • Netflix: Boots will run its first advertising takeover on Netflix, covering both the initial launch and the Black Friday trading period.
  • Social: Promotional activity is planned across TikTok, Snapchat and Reddit.
  • Out-of-home: Boots expects 72.7 million outdoor impacts, including a Westfield White City installation and branded taxis.

The retailer will also use real-time footfall data to adjust digital advertising activity and encourage store visits. London Underground and National Rail placements are planned for the New Year with a health-and-wellbeing focus.

What the CMO says

‘Boots has long played a special role in Christmas gifting, but we want to keep surprising people and give them new reasons to choose us.’

Charlotte Lock, chief marketing officer at Boots, said the retailer wants to be ‘the destination for the gifts people genuinely want to receive’, balancing brands, choice and value across budgets. The ‘Give it Some Boots’ platform, she added, is a bolder and more contemporary expression of the brand.

Why it matters

For marketers, Boots shows how a legacy retailer can make a Christmas campaign work harder. The hero film builds emotional brand fame, the 20-second edits chase frequency and product recall, and the footfall data pushes digital spend towards real store visits. That is a useful template for festive planning in India too: lead with a distinctive brand idea, match it with value-led offers, then use location and store signals to convert interest.

Boots’ move onto Netflix also reflects a broader shift as streamers open up advertising inventory. Expect more retailers to follow if the launch and Black Friday takeover deliver strong results.
