Club FM has launched “Amplified,” a new radio property designed to give independent music in Kerala a regular platform—and the station is building it to travel across broadcast, social video and live events from day one.
What the show is
“Amplified” is positioned as Kerala’s first radio show focused entirely on independent music. It will air every Friday from 7 PM to 9 PM, hosted by RJ Carl, across Club FM stations. The format will cover global acts such as Hozier and FINNEAS, Indian artists including Hanumankind, Aksomaniac and Shanka Tribe, and established Kerala names such as Thaikkudam Bridge, Avial, Masala Coffee and Job Kurian.
One idea, three avatars
Rather than limiting the property to a weekly slot, Club FM is structuring it across three touchpoints:
- Radio: A two-hour weekly discovery format for independent music from Kerala, India and international markets.
- Video: Artist interviews, conversations and exclusive jam sessions published on Club FM’s social platforms.
- On-ground: A live music experience that will culminate in the first “Amplified” festival planned for next year.
Why this matters for media and marketing
The launch is a clean case study in turning a programming slot into a content IP. Club FM is not treating digital as an afterthought; the radio format, the video series and the live event are all part of the same property. That lets the station build one audience relationship across three different moments: lean-back radio listening, lean-forward social viewing and in-person fandom.
For media and consumer marketers, the structure carries a practical lesson. Niche communities, such as Kerala’s independent music audience, reward sustained discovery more than one-off push campaigns. The station is leading with artist access and curation, which naturally generates shareable content—interviews, jam sessions and eventually a live event.
It also gives potential sponsors multiple natural fit points: audio spots, social content, and an on-ground festival, all under one recognisable IP.
The sequencing lesson
Club FM’s approach is essentially a funnel built through owned and borrowed touchpoints. Radio creates discovery, social video creates intimacy and the festival creates commitment. For any brand with a niche audience, the takeaway is to map one core idea across the platforms where that audience already shows up, then give each format a clear job.
What to watch next
The first on-ground “Amplified” festival will be the real test. If it converts radio listeners and social viewers into an event community, it could show advertisers and agencies how to back homegrown music IP instead of only placing messages around it.
Club FM General Manager N Jayakrishnan framed the goal simply: “If it’s great music and deserves more ears, we’ll Amplify it.” The immediate takeaway: a strong niche idea does not have to stay confined to its original format.
