MongoDB has named Komal Puri as its new Head of Marketing for India, adding a senior enterprise technology marketer to the company’s local leadership team.
Puri joins from healthcare technology firm Innovaccer, where she served as Senior Director of Marketing. There her remit included category creation, CXO engagement and revenue-focused marketing programmes. She announced the move on LinkedIn and said she was looking forward to building on the momentum created by the current India marketing team.
What she brings
Puri carries nearly 16 years of experience across B2B SaaS, enterprise technology marketing and international markets. Before Innovaccer, she spent close to eight years at logistics technology company FarEye in senior marketing roles, working on global go-to-market initiatives, demand generation, account-based marketing and marketing technology.
Her earlier roles at Smart Energy Water and IDC, along with time at 20:20 MEDIA, SPAG FINN Partners and the Press Information Bureau, gave her exposure to enterprise technology, technology research and communications. The combined portfolio spans product marketing, customer engagement, content strategy, demand generation and marketing communications.
Why the role matters
The appointment arrives as enterprise technology companies are trying to communicate the business value of modern data platforms to Indian organisations that are weighing data modernisation and AI adoption. A local marketing head with a broad B2B remit is often the bridge between global platform messaging and local buyer concerns.
Puri’s immediate focus will be to build on the work of MongoDB’s existing India marketing team and to advance engagement with customers and the wider technology ecosystem.
For B2B marketers, the move signals where senior marketing roles are heading:
- Category creation: shaping new conversations, not just capturing existing demand.
- CXO engagement: reaching senior buyers who control data and AI budgets.
- Account-based marketing: concentrating resources on high-value accounts.
- Martech-led scale: using marketing technology to drive global and local programmes.
What marketers can take away
India is increasingly being treated as a strategic growth market for global B2B platform brands, not a support function. That means local marketing leaders are expected to own revenue outcomes, build executive relationships and translate complex technology into business value.
Teams can apply the same logic: anchor messaging to AI and data modernisation outcomes, design CXO engagement programmes that open doors for sales, and connect brand building with demand generation rather than treating them as separate tasks.
Puri’s background in category creation is especially relevant. In a market where many enterprises are still deciding how to modernise, the winner is often the brand that frames the problem before buyers issue an RFP.
